Micro Drone 3.0 (Extreme Fliers)
The prospect of cheaply and easily capturing photos and footage from the skies is one of the many aspects that makes camera drones so alluring. With Extreme Flier’s successful funding of the Micro Drone 3.0 on Indiegogo, it looks like technology that was once exclusive to those with deep pockets will soon be available for less than $200. Featuring computer assisted flying, still photos, live-streaming HD video, and a modular design, the Micro Drone 3.0 might truly be a drone for everyone to enjoy.
Other aspects of the Micro Drone 3.0 include a modular snap-on design for attaching the camera or gimbal, a slide-in “quick connect” battery unit, and the ability to develop custom 3D-printed airframes. Pilots can control the drone with their smartphone or via an included 2.4 GHz 4-channel controller.

Last month, UK-technology company Extreme Fliers launched a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo to raise $75,000 for its new product, the Micro Drone 3.0. The device was built to be nothing like any other drone by combining expandable modular technology, sensor-assisted flying and a micro-gimbal for live streaming video. It is considered the first fully customizable personal drone. Modular Snap-on Design for Camera Attachment
It’s super fast to connect and prevents any broken wire issues. Simply hold the Camera module close to the battery and snap, it’s connected! The conventional way to connect the camera to the Drone is with a wire that plugs into the device. With Micro Drone 3.0 both power and connection is made just by touching it together. It is also reversible, so it’s possible to capture forward facing and rear facing footage for that ultimate selfie shot.

So what could Extreme Fliers came up with to make diminutive drones even cooler?
The Micro Drone 3.0 is small enough to fit in your palm and works with 3D printed designs so that users can customize the personal drone into a number of shapes like dragons, TIE Fighters and zeppelins or everything you want.
But what set Micro Drone 3.0 apart from its competitors is not what’s on the outside but under the hood. According to Extreme Fliers, Micro Drone’s secret features can be found in a central proprietary flight controller that gives it smart orientation and the ability to fly outside in winds of up to 45mph thanks to its on board sensors.
The Micro Drone 3.0 can also fly upside down and stick to walls using reverse thrust. The company states that Micro Drone’s retractable micro gimbal is the world’s smallest and tiny and a robotic arm can easily stabilize the onboard HD camera (720p).
Compatible with iOS and Android devices, the drone also works with Google Cardboard VR, which will allow the pilot to convert their smart device into a HUD display and view the drone’s flight in first person.
The Micro Drone 3.0 stores photos and videos on a micro SD card and streams to a tethered smartphone via Wi-Fi.

Micro Drone 3.0 brings to the Pilots the smallest gimbal in the world. Designed for easy take-off and landing, the Gimbal snaps onto the Drone with magnets and starts working immediately. Intelligent sensors allow the Pilot to maintain steady shot while flying.
By implementing FPV with DODOcase and Gimbal, the Extreme Fliers is able to greatly improve the experience without motion blur, providing to the Pilot a clear view of where he/she is flying. Micro Drone 3.0 sends a live video feed to your smartphone, so the Pilot see exactly what the Drone is shooting. We will build this into Meerkat’s Live Streaming platform to share in real-time. Press “Stream” and instantly the live video is broadcast to the Pilot followers’ Twitter feeds. Friends who have Meerkat will get a push notification when the Pilot starts streaming the video from his/her Drone. They can watch, comment and the Pilot can join other Drone users around the world with a community map, all built into Micro Drone 3.0’s app.

All photos and videos took during flight are conveniently stored in “My Journal”. Then, the Pilot can easily edit the footage with a host of tools including crop, trim and color enhancements. Additional features such as optical image processing, video stabilization, facial recognition and panoramic photo capture are also available.
Working within the dimensions of the Drone and capability, Extreme Fliers wanted to add, they had to think very carefully about the structure and design. Cutting edge hardware and powerful software is packed tightly into the tiny device.
